A few days around Hobart

Last week I went down to Hobart and stayed at Corris place. I took the bus from Burnie to Hobart and t took me like 6h again. At this stage 6h aren't that long anymore. On Monday night we went to the Rotary meeting in Sorell, Corris host club. Was good to see some Rotary people again who were at the rotary camps. On Tuesday morning we had to get up early cause we got picked up at 5.45am for the dawn service at 6.00am. It was Anzac day which is a holiday in Australia. It is a holiday for thinking about the Australian who were in the wars. They just talked about war stuff and yeah it actually was pretty boring but everyone just goes. The good part was we've got free brekkie afterwards. We got fried eggs, scrambled eggs, 2 sausage, bacon and bread. It was a lot. After the service we went to Bruny island. Bruny Island got a north and a south part and they are connected with just a small ground strip, which is called the neck. On both sides is water.

Bruny island is very pretty. It got nice beaches and nice rain forest. It would be a nice place for camping.

In the evening we went into town and got Fish and Chips, which was the best fish and chips i've ever tried. The next morning we went with some friends of Corri to Richmond, which is a nice little town for tourists. It owns the oldest bridge and the oldest church of Australia. They were build in the 19 century, which isn't old at all for Europe. In the evening Corri made some Pizzas and invited some friends. Erik from Sweden and Liisa from Finland came as well. We had heaps of fun. On Thursday morning we went to Oatlands. Oatlands is a village with maybe 700 people. Corri spend his first 6 month there. We went and visit the host families of Corri and the we went to some friends of Corris host dad and there was a girl who has a horse and she taught us a bit how to ride. It was pretty scary but it was fun.

On Friday morning we went to help building some bus shelters with Rotary people. I've screwed for my first time.

On this afternoon I left. I went back home.

It was pretty sad me seeing leave. HAHA I will see them in a week again cause I am going on the Australian tour and everyone is keen as!!

District Conference

We had from the 31st of March till the 2nd of April the district conference in Smithton. We exchange student had to do a performance and everyone had to to a 5min speech about their exchange so far. We had the weekend before the conference a practise weekend. We've met us all down in Kingston (around Hobart) at Cheryls and Pauls (Some awesome people from the rotary youth exchange program) place. I haven't seen the exchange students since January and you can believe me we had heaps of fun and especially Corri and I laughed just the whole time. It was hard to concentrate for our performance. We also met an other girl from Austria who is here in Tassie for 6 month with another organisation. We've put her into our performance and she is now a part of our group! We were the year with the least exchange student ever and with the exchange student who no one could actually dance and sing. We just didn't really have any talents. But at the end we finally have put our performance together and it wasn't even that bad. A week later we all met us in Smithton for the conference. We have stayed in town and we had a big room with a table tennis and couches. On Friday evening were just some speeches from other people.  On Saturday morning we had time to practise our performance again. I also had my 5 min speech about my year so far. After lunch we had to do our performance. On Saturday evening we had a dinner with dancing and everyone could dress up. I still don't own a dress so I have borrowed someones dress. The dinner and the dancing was great. It was one of the best evenings while my exchange so far. On Sunday it was time to say goodbye again. How sad...

While the conference we had to wear our Rotary blazers.

Adelaide

A few weeks ago I went with my host parents to Adelaide because they had a wedding anniversary and a birthday to celebrate. We left Tassie on Friday to Melbourne and from Melbourne to Adelaide. The temperature difference between Adelaide and Tassie was at least 10°C. It was 33°C in Adelaide. I didn't know anymore how 30°C feels like. It was hot as. On Saturday morning we went out for brekkie. After brekkie my host mum and I went for a bit sightseeing through Adelaide and we certainly went shopping too. It was a shopping paradise for me cause in Tassie is nothing. In the evening we went at first to celebrate the birthday with my host dads son and after that we went to the wedding anniversary. It got a late night. Next morning we went to the beach. Even the water was warmer than in Tassie. It was nice to swim once without a wet suit! On Sunday evening we went back to Tassie.
