Boat trip to the seals

Today I got up early, at 8.30am. Yes exactly that is early for me because I began to sleep in till like 11.00pm! We went out with the boat around the Nut (Stanley) and visited the seal on a big rock which comes out of the water. There were so many seals! Heaps of them were just lazy and lay on the rocks and a couple of them were swimming in the sea. They grunted and it sounded funny. When you went on the other side from the big rock the seal smell stank disgusting!!!!

On thursday, the 26th of january, was Australia day! This is the biggest event in Smithton in the year. There was an even "twilight at the duck" at the Duck river in Smithton. It started at 3.00pm. Almost everyone from Smithton went to that. There was a music band, heaps of tents with food and there was also a helicopter. it was a good vibe. After tea Shae (my bestfriend in tassie) and me wanted to have a ride on the helicopter. So we went, paid and hopped on the helicopter. It was a great view on your right from Smithton over seven miles beach to Stanley. You also could see Rocky Cape which is a bit further that Stanley. And on your left from Smithton to Montagu and Robbins island! After the helicopter ride we went dancing! The band was just awesome! at like 9.30 the fireworks were on and after this all people went home. It was a pretty good event for Smithton. I didn't think it will be that good after I saw new years eve in Smithton. There was nothing on! No firework at all!

Hobart

I went on monday morning with the bus to Hobart for meeting up with the other exchange students. We met us in Hobart because all except of me and Erik (from Swenden) live around Hobart. But that is alright because it is always worth to meet them. So I left Smithton at 8.15 am and arrived in Hobart at 4ish. Yeah it was a loooong way. I was about 7 hours in the bus. But the good thing is from Smithton to Hobart, which is about 400km, you just pay 10.20$!!! Just 10.20$ look how cheep this is. I mean for this money you can't even go twice to Basel and back. We all stayed at Corris (from Italy) house in Sorell. We made at this evening our own chips with fish and calamary. That was so good!!! We ate it in front the Tv and after that we played cards. On the next day went to Hobart into town and Liisa (from finland) and me found out that the boys actually love shopping. So I was like the first one who said let's go shopping! Omg Hobart is like Basel for Shopping and you can believe me that is pretty good for Tassie. I didn't notice that I missed it! Because We've got in Burnie probably 2, 3 good clothes shops. I mean it is enough but it was just amazing in Hobart. I certainly baught ''some'' stuffs! I've made a plan: After the Aussie tour I will go down to Hobart again and will spend my whole money which I hopefully still have got. And when I won't have enough room in my suitcase then I will get ride of my old clothes!!! After the shopping we cooked us spaghetti Bolognese. Okay Corri cooked us tea and because he is from Italy he cooked us like 250 gramms per person and i was just like: How should I eat 250g of spaghettis plus the sauce? The dog ate at the end all the rests!! On the next day me and Erik caught the bus again back home! Was a great time with them!!

Kayaking

Last week I went with another swiss girl kayaking. I met her once at my rotary counselors house. Anyways, She asked me if I wanna go with her and 2 other people for kayaking on Arthur river. I certainly said yes and we already went on friday evening and camped at the river. We made a camp fire and we enjoyed the evening at the river. On saturday morning we got up early and went on the river. I never really kayaked before, I just kayaked on the duck river in Smithton and this river is very calm. At beginning I had a bit of trouble to steer the kayak but with the time I got it. Nathalie (The other swiss girl) had trouble at beginning as well. The river was black and it flowed trough the forest. On the way we went trough some rapids which were a lot of fun. Sometimes they had more water and sometimes less water. Because of the less water you got stuck on the rocks sometimes. Once there was a really big rapids and after that we all fell into the water! We made two stops on the way and made twice a fire for heating us up. We had four boats and just 3 paddles. One person just took a shovel. But after the big rapids, one of the other person lost his paddle so we took mine paddle apart. But after I fell into the water again after a rapids I lost mine paddle as well. So we haven't had enough paddles and then they just tied my kayak to another one with a rope. It was a bit scary but alright. We were 8 hours on our way and you can't believe how sore my arms were at the end. They other two fellas said to us we were very brave that we have done the whole way without complaining because they also had once two girls with them who began to cry. It was heaps of fun and I would do it again. After that I drove home with Nathalie in the car and it was so much fun because we listened some old German/Swiss music! I definitely talked to much Swiss German trough the day because at the evening I began to talk at first in Swiss German oops... Hahaha!

Jet Ski, Four wheeler

I went on the first of January to the west coast for driving a four wheeler. Yes don't ask why after Silvester! I had a great night at Silvester but a bit less sleep! Anyways I wasn't that tired. We went past Arthur River to a Beach. There we drove at first with the four wheeler. After that we went further up the coast to a big sand hill. The drive up the coast was awesome. At the sand hill we went up and down. At the end I was really dirty but I mean was on a four wheeler and it is worth to get dirty!



On the third of January we went to the Stanley beach and went for driving a Jet Ski. I mean you probably think now: Omg that is cool but it was more than that! It was totally absolutely Awesome! We fall twice over on the Jet Ski but that is the part to be on a Jet Ski. After we just drove on the Jet Ski, they put a bisque behind the Jet Ski. You lie on the bisque and the Jet Ski is drawing you. That was pretty awesome too! The Jet Ski made some waves and through them, the bisque jumped sometimes.

Leavers Dinner

A Highlight of the year was the Leavers Dinner. It is probably the same like Prom. You are dressed up and got your hair and makeup done. You arrive at the location with your partner in a car and then you have to walk down the street and after this there was a big dinner.

Our Leavers Dinner was on the 8th of December. The thing was on this day it actually rained which was a shame because the days before and the day after Leavers dinner were very nice. Anyways we couldn't change it. We met us at 5.00 pm at school. We had one hour for taking pictures with our car, our partner and the whole class. At 6.00 pm arrived the first car at Tall Timbers where our dinner was. We were number 8 and arrived at around 6.35pm. Omg I was so nervous and I actually had no idea what I actually have to do. But we have done it. We got out of the car and walk down the street and back. It was easier than I thought. After this we had pictures again with friends and family and then we went into Tall Timbers for the dinner. The dinner was great. After the dinner we had an after party with all grade 10 students. It was pretty good. Me and 5 other slept at Jaisharas house, where the party was. We went probably at like 5.00am to sleep and woke up at like 8.00am. Yes we haven't had a big sleep. After we were all awake, we went to Jaisharas nan house and went into the indoor swimming pool with our cloths. was quiet good and we just relaxed in the water.

Christmas time

That is how I spend my Christmas time. Was pretty good to spent it with swimming! That was probably the reason, why I actually haven't had christmas feeling. Hope you all had a great christmas and happy new year to everyone!!
